JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for the leadership and management of the hotel’s Group Sales, Leisure Sales, and PR & Marketing functions. This role drives revenue growth, oversees sales and marketing initiatives, and ensures excellence in guest and client satisfaction. The Director of Sales & Marketing sets direction, develops and executes sales plans, and manages the implementation of marketing and promotional programs across all segments. Success in this role requires a strong focus on advancing Sanctuary’s mission, vision, and values and ensuring that all sales and marketing efforts reflect the organization’s standards and principles.
JOB FUNCTION

Sales Leadership
- Lead and manage day-to-day activities for Group and Leisure Sales.
- Develop and maintain long-term, value-based relationships with clients, agencies, and key stakeholders.
- Monitor group and leisure booking patterns, pricing strategies, and market performance.
- Conduct client site visits, pre- and post-event meetings, and participate in key sales calls.
- Approve catering and event space allocations to maximize revenue potential.
- Work with Revenue Management to develop accurate forecasts and projections for all segments.
Marketing & Public Relations Oversight
- Work with PR and Marketing Manager on initiatives, including media relations, promotional campaigns, and social media strategies.
- Collaborate with management to align marketing programs with sales goals and property branding.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.
- Manage marketing budget, FAM trips, and client events to maximize ROI.
Team Management & Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop sales, marketing, and PR staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Resolve staff issues through proactive management and problem resolution.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with Sanctuary’s mission, vision, and values.
Customer & Guest Focus
- Ensure guest satisfaction is integrated into all sales and marketing efforts.
- Serve as an ambassador for the hotel, ensuring a superior customer experience across all touchpoints.
- Maintain a visible presence at events, trade shows, and industry functions to build relationships and enhance the hotel’s reputation.
Operational & Financial Oversight
- Manage budgets, revenue tracking, and reporting for sales and marketing departments.
- Approve expenditures, monitor ROI, and make data-driven decisions to optimize performance.
- Ensure compliance with hotel standards, brand standards, and Sanctuary service commitments.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in sales leadership, including Group and Leisure Sales, PR, and Marketing.
- Knowledge of hotel revenue management, forecasting, and financial principles.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze data, anticipate opportunities and risks, and implement effective strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and hotel sales systems (e.g., Delphi, Opera PMS).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. Equivalent required.
- 2-year or 4-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Related Work Experience
- Related Work Experience
- Minimum of 4 years in sales, marketing, or related professional experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Luxury Resort or hotel experience required.
Required Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
