FT-Assistant Spa Director
POSITION SUMMARY
This position contributes to the success of the Sanctuary Spa by being responsible for smooth daily operations, management and profitability of the spa. The Assistant Spa Director is expected to be a ‘hands-on’ leader with an exceptional eye for detail and passion for the spa and wellness industry. This position provides guidance and coaching to staff, to ensure the positive attainment of goals established by the Spa Director and the company; with a focus on living the Sanctuary Commitments and vision of Where Pride and Compassion Meet, critical to the success of this position as a Sanctuary Front of House community member.
JOB FUNCTIONS_
Note: the following duties and responsibilities may not be all-inclusive
· Responsible for Daily Spa Operations, management and profitability.
· Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems, as necessary.
· Assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
· Listen, understand, clarify, and address concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
· Analyze financial information/data; suggest plans-of-action to better benefit the business and employees.
· Provide support, direction and management development opportunities to spa associates. Serve as a mentor and career coach for passionate and interested staff members.
· Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
· Work closely with Spa Director on continuous improvement ideas for services and products.
· Assist by actively participating in monitoring and controlling department expenses, and payroll.
· Hire, train, supervise and evaluate all technicians of the spa team with the assistance of the Lead Massage Therapist and Lead Aesthetician.
· Assist Spa Director in ensuring overall members satisfaction.
· Maintain & develop effective communication with all departments of the resort.
· Guide and supervise any on-going training programs.
· Have knowledge and understanding of each program area and ensure continual updates.
· Conduct regular Spa “All-Staff” meetings for the purpose of informing, training and inspiring.
· Oversee creation of Technician work schedule with the assistance of Lead Massage Therapist and Lead Aesthetician.
· Oversee and assist in areas of coaching/counseling staff and conduct reviews of Treatment staff and provide feedback to the Spa Guest Services Manager for the Front of House staff.
· Lead by example, ensure understanding & enforce compliance of the Sanctuary Commitments.
· Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the spa facility.
· Oversee spa physical plant: ensure facilities and equipment in proper, good-working condition.
· Recommend special projects/promotions and execute them as directed by the Spa Director.
· Participate in Public Relations events, as needed.
· Perform additional duties as requested by the Spa Director.

· Ability to maintain a pleasant disposition and work smoothly in high stress work environment.
· Superior organizational, multi-tasking and problem resolution skills. Be very detail oriented.
· Enforce all Spa and Resort policies.
· Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
· Excellent telephone etiquette and excellent/professional communication skills required.
· Take the initiative to make contributions to the department and resort while maintaining positive working relationships with co-workers.
· Promote excellent guest relations while living the Sanctuary Commitments.
PHYSICAL TASKS
· Ability to sit continuously to perform essential job functions.
· Requires extending arms, bending and stooping to reach materials in drawers or on shelves.
· Flexible and long hours often required
· Adhere to attire, personal hygiene and appearance standards at all times.
· Maintain good safety habits and report unsafe or hazardous conditions to your manager.
· Practice teamwork and effective communication with manager/supervisor/co-workers.
· Always maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and positive attitude toward all.
· Must be able to attend all meetings and training as scheduled by department manager.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Related Work Experience
- Prior supervisory experience, in hospitality & customer service required
- SpaSoft Software experience preferred.
- Massage and aesthetics familiarity.
Required Knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft applications such as: Word, Excel, Outlook.
