This position contributes to Sanctuary success by performing and supervising technical trade repairs and maintenance operations, controls inventory, ordering of parts and materials and managing expenses within a specific area of expertise. Also, perform supervision of staff maintaining buildings and grounds, new installations and completion of maintenance requests. This position ensures the safety and comfort of guests and employees; with a focus on maintaining the facilities to our superior standards, with a focus on living the Sanctuary Commitments and our Promise of Care Enough to do it well.

Performs work requiring journeyman level skills of at least one of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, Central Plant, HVAC/refrigeration mechanic, kitchen mechanic, laundry mechanic, carpenter, painter, tile, in addition to proficiency in maintenance/mechanical duties.
Responsible for supervision and performance of scheduled, emergency and preventive maintenance of hotel facilities and equipment throughout the hotel as assigned.
Controls inventory and ordering of materials and supplies for the specific area of responsibility.
Provides supervision and training to subordinate engineering positions.
Must, in the course of routine duties, act diligently to observe any maintenance issues, report those to the department management, and take initiative to correct the observed deficiencies.
Develops procedures and policies to promote the betterment of the business and the property.
Provides supervision of emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during the course of work shift as well as scheduled maintenance repairs of buildings and equipment.
Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform job functions.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance.
Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules and other regulatory requirements as needed.
Must be capable of changes in work efforts with multiple assignments throughout each shift.
Develops positive relationships with other departments in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner. Under takes walkthrough’s and inspections of buildings and equipment.
Completes other projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
Assigns schedules and monitors the work progress of the engineering team.
Maintains the Engineering department in a neat, functional and organized manner.

Ability to lift, push/pull and grasp objects or carry supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders, working at height up to approximately 30 feet, for extended periods of time, with the ability to reach, often times overhead.
Ability to kneel, squat, bend, stoop and lift (up to 75 lbs.) repetitively.
Ability to move and work throughout the property for the duration of the shift.
Ability to stand for the entire shift (except for lunch and break periods).
Ability to work in extreme hot, cold and wet conditions.
Ability to grasp and manipulate tools and materials, and have excellent finger dexterity.
Adhere to uniform, personal hygiene and appearance standards at all times.
Must be capable of working in a fast paced environment both independently and with others.
Have solid interpersonal skills, be detail oriented, motivated and have a positive demeanor.
Take the initiative to make contributions to the department and resort while maintaining positive working relationships with co-workers.
Maintain good safety habits and report unsafe or hazardous conditions to your manager.

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Equivalent
Related Work Experience
Coursework/certification in maintenance, engineering, and/or construction. Or 5 years hospitality maintenance experience.
Minimum 3 years strong technical (hands-on) knowledge.
Experience in a resort is preferred.
Must be able to read blueprints & schematic diagrams.
Must be able to use trade specific hand and power tools.
Must be able to make accurate measurements using technical tools.
Must be able to plan and execute installations and maintenance.
Must have excellent technical math skills including trade specific theory and applications. Must have computer skills.
Must have troubleshooting skills in multiple technical disciplines.
Must understand hotel system components and their relationship.
Must understand energy management and conservation basics.
